BALI - 8 Things you must do in Uluwatu

by - March 25, 2018

If you're planning a trip to Uluwatu then you must have already seen pictures or heard about the beautiful beaches there. Whether you've done some research or you've watched Eat, Pray, Love - this is one place you just can't leave off your list

Most venues in Uluwatu have jaw-dropping vistas of the Indian Ocean. And hey, what better way to close a day in Bali than by witnessing a clifftop sunset while sipping a cold coconut? Here are my picks for the best places to visit in Uluwatu

8 THINGS YOU MUST DO IN ULUWATU

1. Padang Padang

Padang Padang is the beach made famous in Eat, Pray, Love and although this beach was one of my faves, because of the rock formations on the shore at low tide and the trek down to the beach through the caves (which is out of this world) I have recently noticed its become a lot more populated and less secluded. Padang Padang charges a mere 10,000 Indonesian rupiah which is around 1AUD to access, making it one of the cheapest entry fees that will appear on this list.

2. Karma Beach

Karma Beach is hands down the most beautiful beach I've ever been to! This place is heaven. It costs 500k to use the beach, which includes beach beds, towels, and 100k credit to use on drinks. If you plan your day right and arrive early, the best thing to do is have breakfast at Di Mare, the hotel restaurant with a minimum spend of 400k per person and that will give you free entry to the beach. To get to the beach, the only access is on a cable car down the cliff (keep a lookout for the monkeys) The water is crystal clear and turquoise as far as the eye can see!

3. Blue Point Beach

Blue Point (otherwise known as Suluban Beach) is stunning and definitely worth a visit! Free entry to this beach but if you're like me and not a real fan on laying on the sand then my advice is to pay the 10AUD fee and use the pool and sun loungers at Delpi Rock Lounge.
The view is something you can only dream of, and if you stay for sunset then it'll be something you'll remember forever.

4. El Kabron

Fun Fact: "kabron” is the Spanish word for bastard, so naturally I love this place haha but no, honestly this clifftop bar oozes that Mediterranean vibe. There's a full Spanish menu and fabulous signature cocktails and of course, authentic sangria. What makes El Kabron truly special, though, are the best ocean views and the cliff side pool.

5. Single Fin

If you’re a surfer, there’s no way you’ve never heard about the legendary Single Fin surf bar sitting on the very top of Uluwatu cliff. This laid-back bar has a reputation of being the coolest bar in the area and for good reason. Single Fin is definitely one of the best spots to watch the surf and puts on some pretty decent beats dropped by the resident DJs. The bar offers a range of cocktails, snacks and pizzas and a few Indonesian dishes.

6. II Bar at Bvlgari Resort

Luxe and elegant, Il Bar exudes just the kind of sophistication you’d expect from Bulgari. Guest are invited to indulge in craft cocktails, stellar service and breathtaking 270-degree views of the Indian Ocean. Following the Italian tradition of pre-dinner aperitivos, Il Bar offers chic canapés and one of the most extensive wine lists you’ll find in any of the bars in Uluwatu.

7. Sundays Beach Club

A part of The Ungasan cliff top resort, Sunday's beach club is luxury without the price tag.
Go early to secure uninterrupted views of the sea, frolic in the sun and once you've had your dose of the beach head up on the cable car and enjoy the infinity pool at the top of the cliff.
Come sunset they fire up the bonfire, set up the beanbags and offer marshmallows for toasting – a nice little touch to finish off a perfect day! 30AUD for beach access which includes day beds or bean bags.

8. Yoga

Uluwatu surf villas definitely one of my go-to yoga spots in Bali. If you're staying a few nights in Uluwatu, make this a morning ritual. They offer classes at 7:30am for 120k inclusive of an ice cold coconut!
